Transparent Change is fighting misinformation  and disinformation about trans people and gender identities through honest, accessible and engaging training.

We are not-for-profit

Collaboration and community is at the heart of all we do. We are a Community Interest Company (CIC) limited by guarantee, and that guarantee says that every penny we make goes into the work we do and the community we serve.

We provide direct engagement and training to the professionals who support people in vulnerable times in their life. The vital education we provide ensures that trans people can access services safely.

We are trans led

With an all trans board of directors we have the trans community at the centre of all we do.

Jacob Stokoe (@jacobtheseahorse) founded Transparent Change after he experienced maternity services as a pregnant trans person. During that time he had to provide education to every member of staff he came into contact with- the staff that he needed to be supporting him during that vulnerable time in his life.

Transparent Change was founded to provide that education so that no trans person has to go through that, especially at vulnerable times in their lives. This means every aspect of healthcare, public services, education and more can benefit from trans inclusion training.

There is so much more to do to bring trans equality but we believe it starts with sharing open, honest information to humanise and normalise trans lives and trans bodies.

Our Principles

1. To build confidence in all participants
We hold a no-judgement space where it’s ok to ask questions, to learn and to grow. We improve confidence by building knowledge and giving tools about how to get it right.

2. To provide transparent, evidence based training
Trans people’s existence is supported by science and the evidence shows that when the people in a trans person’s life affirm their gender, they have significantly better outcomes.
All the training we provide comes from expert guidance and lived experience.

3. To humanise and normalise trans experiences and trans bodies
Trans people have existed throughout history and across cultures. We are a normal variation of the human experience.

4. To recognise intersectionality identities and support all marginalised identities
We understand that when someone experiences mutliple marginalisations they are more at risk in our society. We aim to bring intersectional understandings of gender and identity throughout our training courses and we continue to learn from marginalised voices.

5. To build networks,  community and collaborations
We are stronger together. If you want to get involved, including volunteering, please contact us here
